Originally from New Jersey, Tony Guzzo began his
formal art studies at the University of New Mexico. From there he spent
several years in St. Louis; Wilmington, Delaware; Tucson, Arizona; Montpellier,
France; Chicago and finally Laramie, Wyoming, his and his wife's home for
the last many years.
While originally interested in painting, he took a circuitous route
to the study of sculpture with sculptor Robert Russin of the University
of Wyoming. The solidity of form, especially in marble and bronze seemed
to fit his nature better than the two dimensional world of painting
His sculpture has won prizes throughout Wyoming: Best of Sculpture at the
Wind River Valley Art Guild; Best of Sculpture at the Platt River Valley
Art Guild Show and Sale; and Best Bronze at the Cheyenne "Art of the West"
Show and Sale.
Gallery representations are in Jackson, WY at the Rawson Gallery, The Artesan Gallery
and Two Bazaar in Laramie. His work is also in the permanent collection
of the Wyoming State Museum.
